Thank you for your interest in sharing your story with the community via Suffer Out Loud’s Blog.
We know that sharing experiences can be part of healing, but it can also make things feel fresh and raw all over again - so let us start by saying thank you for your willingness to share and we commend you for your courage.
Adding your story to the collection may reach someone who needs to feel less alone. It may make someone feel like it’s okay to say “I’m not well, I need help”. Sharing your story will help to change our culture and make it okay to Suffer Out Loud.
A few tips to remember as you get started…
Just get to writing, we can go back and edit it with you after you get it all out.
Names and identifying details can (and often should) be changed to protect privacy. This may also make you feel more safe about sharing.
If speaking your story feels more natural, tell it to a friend and record it, then go back and type it up and edit it.
You can get together with a member of the Suffer Out Loud team, tell us your story and we can write it up for you.

We will let you know when we post it…
Please note that we may edit your story for clarity and our own editorial guidelines. For example, this might mean your title will be changed or certain language will be removed. If we’ve made significant enough changes, we’ll run it by you first. We don’t want to misrepresent your voice or message.
Also, unfortunately, we can’t publish every story or blog post that we receive. Please don’t take us turning down a story as us saying your stories don’t have value. We have a small team currently, but we hope to one day to use every story we receive. Please know that your story has so much value.
